Dietitian - Friend or Foe?

Hi Everyone............
I am Ruby Sound, a practicing dietitian in this never sleeping city , Mumbai.Some of you who are reading may know me ,some of you may not.But...........do you know ,who is a Dietitian???

                                                 
                                                     Is a Dietitian your Friend or Foe???


Is a  Dietitian is a professional who plans only a Diet Chart for you??? One may fear what is dieting all about..........Is "Dieting" what you may commonly use the term for people who want to loose weight???

To find answers to above questions, simply question yourself ,
                                                                             " Do you live to eat ...OR...Eat to live?"

If your answer is, "I eat to live", then one must give a deep thought that by eating anything or everything at anytime or every-time will give you a good  and healthy life to live? The answer is NO.  Eating correct food in correct quantity at correct timings is the way to lead a healthy life. So, the professional whose expertise will guide you on this is called a DIETITIAN.

To be more precise, a Dietitian is the one who will assist in the diet planning considering all the clinical, practical, economical aspects. Beyond planning the diet charts, they supervise the preparation and service of food,develop modified  diets, participate in research and educate individuals and groups on good nutritional habits. Dietary modification to address medical issues involving dietary intake is a major role of a Dietitian.

So,being a dietitian doesn't mean only catering needs to individuals who need to loose weight.The contribution of a Dietitian can be wherever there is food available............this means every home, every office, every school, every college, every hospital, every restaurant...In short, every individual needs a guidance from an expert who will educate and inculcate correct eating habits and suggest right foods.

The outcome of eating right at right time under the guidance and  supervision of an expert will not only improve the quality of life, it will also prevent contracting certain health conditions and/or diseases due to over-nutrition or under-nutrition.

The practice of eating is from the time of birth, so there is never a certain age limit to take advice from a Dietitian. Also all the suggestions and advice given are for your own health benefit. May it be your disease free life, longevity, treatment to a disease, improve performance, better immunity, better vision, healthy hair, supple skin, strong bones and teeth etc etc...

SO, how can a Dietitian be your foe??


                          A Dietitian is always your friend not a foe....................
